ABOUT 406 POTTERY LESSONS
The program and the Potter
I am a local teacher and mom with 10+ years of pottery experience offering private pottery lessons to children and adults of all abilities who are interested in the arts! Students will have the opportunity to develop skills that they can build upon lesson after lesson.
Children's Lessons: (4 class minimum)
Their confidence will grow and your child will start to develop more creativity and passion as they hold the ability to create whatever their heart desires. Classes are held in my backyard pottery studio.
-
We will start by learning about clay and learn the steps to throw a cylinder on the wheel.
-
The second class they will have more freedom on the wheel to experience the trials and errors of throwing clay! There are many teachable moments, but its all part of fostering a deeper understanding of the art.
-
The third class is based on slab building or throwing again. In this class we will roll out even slabs of clay and learn how to bind pieces together to make a creative container, platter, bird house, or whatever the imagination can create.
-
Our fourth and final class is all about finishing the several pieces of art with glaze. This is one of the most favored classes!
We then will schedule a time after the pieces have gone through their final firing in the kiln to be picked up. The enthusiasm they feel when seeing their finalized projects will be a lasting impression in their lives.
You are welcome to continue classes after the first four sessions if desired!
I hope to see you and your children this year!
Adult lessons: (4 class minimum)
-
We will start by throwing a cylinder on the wheel, learn to wedge clay, and learn hand building if desired.
-
The second class and third class will be tailord to your needs or project ideas. My goal is to support you with the foundational skills in ceramics and let your creative process go from there.
-
Our fourth and final class is all about finishing your work with glaze.
